Physical Books or E-Books

Personal Thoughts:

There have been numerous debates as to which is better: physical books or e-books? To tell you the truth, NOTHING. I find both physical books and e-books absolutely perfect for reading.

So I am a bibliophile. I love collecting books. I love how gorgeous the spines look when lined up on my shelf. I love their tanned pages that signify everything we have gone through together. But I most especially love the idea of having an entire world right in the palm of my hands. I treat my physical books like archeological artifacts. They are concrete evidences of events in my past, of my life ways before. They are constant reminders of my adventures and downfalls.

Whilst physical books elicit such wonderful feeling of fulfillment, e-books are definitely for convenience. E-books are books that you can read in the dark. They are also convenient to read whilst on the road. And when you're not able to bring the physical books with you for reasons like your bag's already full or you have to go the school library on that day and they have this detector that beeps every time you bring in a book that has a bar code, or you didn't think you need a book but end up needing one, read e-books instead. Lastly, you can easily adjust the brightness and font size of e-books, how cool is that?

Personally, the downside of reading e-books however is eyestrain. Sometimes my eyes get blurry and somewhat painful as a result of hours and hours of reading. Plus I don't get to feel the beautiful embossments of book titles on the covers and spines. And be able to sniff them.

Regardless of, we need not compare e-books and physical books. Some people find it better to read physical books whilst some choose otherwise. Nonetheless we should all respect other people's preferences. Other people feel superior when they read physical copies of books. Yes, they have the bragging rights but at the end of the day, it's the story that matters. Whatever "tool" you use in reading is absolutely fine.
